SP Energy Networks has moved into a new operational hub in Knowsley, Merseyside, as the company continues to invest in the people, infrastructure and facilities needed to support the region's growing demand for electricity.

The new base at Knowsley Business Park will provide a modern, efficient working environment for teams delivering vital electricity network upgrades and maintenance across Merseyside and the wider North West.

The move comes as SP Energy Networks continues to invest in the network that powers homes, businesses and communities, helping deliver a safe, secure and reliable electricity supply while supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon future.

Derek Fairbairn, District General Manager at SP Energy Networks, said: "We're delighted to be moving into our new home in Knowsley. This modern facility gives our teams the space, resources and infrastructure they need to continue delivering for customers across Merseyside and the wider region.

"With demand for electricity continuing to grow, we're investing heavily in our network and recruiting more people to help deliver that investment. Having a new operational hub in the heart of the communities we serve will support our teams as they maintain and upgrade the network, connect new developments and help enable a cleaner, greener future.

"This move reflects our long-term commitment to the region and ensures we're well placed to meet the needs of customers both now and in the years ahead."

The new hub has been delivered in partnership with Redsun Projects, the developer behind Hub50 at Knowsley Business Park. Working closely together throughout the project, both organisations have created a modern and sustainable operational base designed to support SP Energy Networks' growing workforce and long-term investment plans across the region.

Andrew Kilpatrick, Development Director at Redsun Projects, said: "We're delighted to welcome SP Energy Networks to Hub50. The facility has been designed to provide high-quality, sustainable space that supports long-term operational growth, and we're proud to have worked alongside SP Energy Networks to deliver a building that meets their needs now and for the future."

The 50,000 sq ft facility has been developed to modern environmental standards and has achieved a BREEAM Very Good certification and EPC A rating. Sustainability features include solar photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging points and energy-efficient building systems.

The new hub will support SP Energy Networks' operations across Merseyside, where teams work around the clock to maintain the electricity network, respond to faults and deliver major investment projects that help keep power flowing to homes and businesses.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development at Knowsley Council, welcomed the move, saying: "We're pleased to welcome SP Energy Networks to Knowsley Business Park. Their investment in the borough demonstrates the strength of Knowsley's business community and will help support local employment and economic growth."

Located close to key road links including the M57, M62 and A580, the site provides excellent access across the region, helping operational teams respond efficiently to network needs and support customers throughout Merseyside and beyond.
