Electricity network operator, SP Energy Networks, is set to get to work on upgrading the local electricity network in Winsford, increasing its capacity to support a cleaner and greener future.
The works will involve the installation of a new substation just off Briarwood Court – on land owned by SP Energy Networks – and new underground electricity cables to connect the new substation to the existing grid.
The project will help ensure the continued provision of a modern, reliable and resilient electricity supply for homes and businesses in Winsford as people make greener choices and demand for electricity increases.
The works are scheduled to get underway from Monday 11 August and are expected to take between 4-5 weeks.
To ensure they can be carried out safely and as quickly as possible, there will be temporary pavement restrictions in place along Queensway (from Briarwood Court) and on to Well Street while excavation work and cable installation takes place.
The roads will remain open to vehicles, with some traffic management where needed due to the footpath closures. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
SP Energy Networks’ Project Manager, Matthew Mason, said: “We’re investing in our network to ensure our customers continue to enjoy a reliable and resilient electricity supply as demand increases and people make greener choices about how they travel or heat their homes.
“However, we know there will be some disruption as we complete these essential works and we will do everything we can to keep that to a minimum. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please be assured we will pull out all the stops to minimise any inconvenience and complete the works safely and swiftly.”
Leaflets advising of the forthcoming works will be distributed to local residents from week commencing Monday 21 July.
