South West Scotland Update
Coylton Substation - Work on extending the substation is complete landscaping and removal of temporary access works for the overhead line will continue into 2016.
New Overhead Line - Coylton Substation to New Cumnock overhead line complete. Energisation planned for second quarter of 2016.
New Cumnock Substation - this will house the mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Substation due to be energised Q2 2016.
Part B & C
Parts B&C - Work started early 2016 and is due for completion in 2017/2018. Part B will see the construction of a new 132kV overhead line between New Cumnock Substation and the new substation at Blackhill. The new Glenglass substation will connect to Blackhill Substation via an overhead line. Tree clearance started in quarter one of 2016.
Parts D2, D3 and D4
Originally constituting parts D1, D2, D3 and D4, there are now only three ‘Part D’ elements, as Part D1 is no longer required following the removal of North Kyle wind farm.
Part D2 - involves a 132kV wood pole overhead line between Dersalloch wind farm and New Cumnock substation. The eastern section will be an underground cable which will be installed as permitted development
D3 - refers to Dun Hill substation, two underground 132kV cables approximately 100m in length will connect the substation directly into the overhead line between Black Hill and New Cumnock Substations.
D4 - is an underground cable running between Black Hill substation and Pencloe wind farm.
Dersalloch Cable to commence works on B741 NE Dalmellington in late 2015. Works to be completed for mid 2016 • OHL from B741 SW of Pennievennie Quarry commenced construction in early 2016. Contractor Newsletter - KTL Newsletter
South West Scotland Developer Forum - June 2016
On June 10th 2016, we hosted a forum for developers focusing on the progress of the transmission infrastructure being established in the South West of Scotland area.
Pearse Murray opened the forum with an introduction setting the scene for the event, highlighting the good progress being made in the area and some of the ongoing challenges regarding the discharge of planning conditions.
Programme Managers David Raftery, Bob McGuire and John Rodger provided a delivery update on SWS Stage 1 to 5; Bob McGuire presented a Consenting update for all 5 stages.
