Scottish Green Energy Awards

It's a win for SP Energy Networks at the Scottish Green Energy Awards!

For the third year in a row, SP Energy Networks have scooped an award at the Scottish Green Energy Awards.

Last week at the prestigious ceremony hosted by broadcast journalist and comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, SP Energy Networks won the Sustainable Development Award for an innovative project to reduce the carbon footprint of substations.

Led by the Future Networks team, Project ‘FITNESS’ (Future Intelligent Transmission Network Substation)is paving the way forward to reducing the environmental impact of substations by 15% by minimising use of copper, reducing building sizes and enabling reuse of concrete structures.

FITNESS is supporting the UK’s first sustainable demonstration of a fully integrated digital substation, which will allow quicker commissioning of substations; reducing constraints on the network and enabling more renewable generation to connect with greater availability and control. A major focus of FITNESS is also improving safety at substations by reducing use of oil and gas and electrically isolating the substation primary equipment and control system.

On 31st July 2024 we published our 23/ 24 Annual Vulnerability Report covering performance for Year 1 of RIIO- ED2.

‘‘The year 2023/24 has been foundational for our ED2 programme. We worked hard to build on the solid foundation established in ED1 to evolve our partnerships, tools, and processes that will allow us to achieve our expanded ED2 ambition. At the same time, we have continued to focus on customers’ pressing needs, from delivering excellent support during emergencies to offering a range of extra help aimed at improving their welfare.’
