We were proud to fly the flag for the local LGBT+ community this weekend by taking part in the online celebration of Liverpool Pride 2020. Although our people were not able to attend this event in person, it was an honour to march virtually along with the rest of the city of Liverpool.
Many of our colleagues across the business got involved in filming for the march which took place online on Saturday 25 July and they also raised the LGBT+ flag at our Liverpool Depot.
Liam O’sullivan, SPM Director at SP Energy Networks, said: “Liverpool Pride is a hugely important event that we were exceptionally proud to be a part of again in 2020. Although we couldn’t meet in person to march through the city streets, we cheered and waved our pride flags as we marched online in support of the LGBT+ community. As a major employer in the Merseyside area, we’re not only committed to supporting our LGBT+ colleagues, but also our customers and the communities we serve.
Liverpool is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and this Pride march aimed to highlight the daily barriers that LGBT+ people living in and visiting the region face. Here at SP Energy Networks, we believe everyone has the right to be whoever they are without fear of discrimination so we’re proud to have been part of raising awareness about this important issue.”
