Tree-Mendous Fundraising: Residents in Wrexham and Birkenhead Recycling Christmas Trees to Raise Money for Local Hospices

29/12/2023

Residents living in Wrexham, Birkenhead and surrounding areas are being encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees to raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice and Wirral Hospice St John's through their local Christmas tree recycling schemes.

Volunteers from our Wirral and Dee Valley districts will join other local organisations to collect Christmas trees in exchange for a charity donation. The collection for Wirral Hospice St John's is taking place on 12 January and for Nightingale House Hospice on 13 January. Trees collected through the community initiatives will be used for wood chipping, recycled by local centres and, in some cases, used for biomass fuel for local garden centres and cafes.

The final date for signing up to Wirral Hospice St John's Christmas tree recycling scheme is 7 January at 11:59pm. Registration can be done by visiting https://www.wirralhospice.org/treebooking/.

The deadline for signing up to Nightingale House Hospice’s Christmas tree recycling scheme is 8 January at 11:59pm. Registration can be done by visiting just-helping.org.uk/register-tree or by calling the fundraising team on 01978 314292.

Liam O’Sullivan, SP Energy Networks Licence Director said: “While we’re known for keeping the lights on, our teams will also be on hand once the Christmas tree lights come off and go back in the box to support this brilliant tree recycling scheme for our local hospice, which is such an important part of the community. Money raised will help families through extremely difficult times and provide critical end of life care, and we’re proud to once again play our part.

“The scheme is a great way to recycle your tree once the festivities are over while supporting a really worthwhile cause. So, register now to make sure you get your tree collected and provide a donation, no matter how big or small, to help raise vital funds for these lifeline hospice care services.”
