The text below is the transcript from the Don’t Set Up Camp Below Powerlines video.
Nothing beats getting out with the whole crew and going on a camping trip. Insect repellent is a must, and tasty snacks are, well, essential. But the most important thing, is to pick a safe spot to pitch your tent away from any overhead power lines.
Now, I was surprised to find out that people are injured and sometimes even killed every year in accidents involving electricity, when people aren't careful about what's around them. But don't worry, because the good news is the team at SP Energy Networks has come up with a few ways to help you avoid accidents like these.
Firstly, avoid setting up your tent under or close to any overhead power lines. Secondly, don't light fires under overhead power lines. And finally. make sure everyone you're with is aware of the danger with overhead lines. Hint hint, they are dangerous. And if anything does go wrong, then make sure to call the 105 - emergency helpline. This will get you help as soon as possible and if anyone is injured call 999 right away.
