VO: Over the years, we have developed many different techniques to avoid putting your power off if we can. Innovative network design, digital system control and, when required, live working techniques. Many of our staff have been trained in the use of live working techniques to enable us to keep the power flowing even while we work. Cable jointers use specialist techniques and insulated gloves and tools to enable an otherwise dangerous task to be done safely. Our linesmen use hot glove techniques and specially insulated mobile platforms to allow them to undertake work with overhead power lines still live. In most cases you won't even know we've done it. These are some of the things we do every day to try to ensure you still have power while we work.
