Glenglass 132kV GIS Substation Extension

The proposed extension at Glenglass 132kV substation is located at Glenglass substation, U432N public road, near Sanquhar. SP Energy Networks (SPEN) have a licence obligation to provide electricity generators with a connection to the electrical system in this area. To enable the connection of generation in the Glenglass area and extend the 132kV network to Glenmuckloch, a new 132kV switchboard is required in Glenglass.

SPEN is now seeking views on the proposals and the work which has been undertaken to date for the Project.  Further information about the Project, our plans for consultation, and how to make comments as well as the Consultation Leaflet, are available below:

As part of the consultation, we would be grateful for your views on the following:

  • The extension layout; and
  • Any other issues, suggestions or feedback you would like SPEN to consider.

Due to current restrictions relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, a virtual, online consultation process is being undertaken.  This will allow people to view the project information in a virtual environment and to leave comments on the preferred overhead line route. Feedback from this event will then be considered by SPEN prior to the proposed route being determined.

The virtual consultation can be accessed from the following link during the consultation period, which runs from 15th August until 29th August 2022.

Our GDPR statement can be found here.

The online questionnaire can be accessed here.

Alternatively, should you wish to submit any comments to SPEN via email or in writing, you can do so at the following addresses.

Please note these comments must be submitted no later than midnight on Monday 5th September 2022. If contacting SPEN by post, please allow up to 7 days for these to be received as it may not be possible to consider comments received after this date.
