Holm Hill Substation

SP Energy Networks is proposing to construct a new 132kV substation at Holm Hill in Dumfries & Galloway, approximately 2.5 kilometres (km) to the north-west of Carsphairn and 7.5 km south-east of Dalmellington.  The proposed development is needed to connect proposed wind farm development to the electricity transmission network.

Holm Hill substation is currently at the design consultation stage with an application for planning permission to be prepared for submission to Dumfries & Galloway Council.  As the overall application boundary is likely to be greater than 2ha, the application is considered Major Development under Town and Country Planning (Hierarchy of Developments) (Scotland) Regulations 2009.

As a Major Development, SPEN are required to undertake pre-application consultation on the proposals.

In line with COVID-19 legislation, consultation events will be held on-line.  SPEN is committed to undertaking meaningful and wide-reaching consultation and is therefore currently planning on holding a series of live question and answer sessions. These events will be held at the following times and dates.
