Kaimes Substation 275 kV Switchgear Replacement

Kaimes Substation is located to the south of Edinburgh and is a major node on the east west interconnected transmission network supporting distribution of energy to central Edinburgh.

The project team have recently successfully completed the modernization program of the 275 kV switchgear replacing the original equipment that had been in place since the early sixties.

With an investment value of near to £ 7 million - the project was delivered in stages by specialist contractors - congratulations to everyone involved.


These modernization and reinforcement activities across the transmission network ensure Kaimes Substation along with our other infrastructure play a crucial role in the nations move to a more sustainable environment and achieving net zero targets.
