Lambhill Substation Lambhill substation in the north of Glasgow is one of SP Energy Networks older sites and the programme of activity currently underway involves significant modernisation of both the equipment and current layout. Work on the ground commenced in November 2015 with expected completion in early 2018 the Project completed ahead of schedule in October 2017. The work includes an extension at the west side of the existing substation which in turn will allow the reconfiguration of the layout along with the replacement of the ageing equipment. Associated work will also be required at some of the adjacent Transmission Towers allowing the conductors (overhead cables) to be disconnected from the existing substation equipment and thereafter reconnected when the new equipment is installed. On completion of the work the substation will be better positioned to deal with the changing and increasing demands being placed on our Network.
