Tralorg Wind Farm Connection Project

The developers of Tralorg Wind Farm have requested SP Energy Networks provide a connection to transport the renewable energy generated into the transmission network.

The wind farm is located to the east of Girvan in South Ayrshire and will connect into Markhill Substation to the north of Barrhill. The route distance is approximately 14 km and the 33 kV connection will consist of 9.4 km of single pole overhead line and underground cable to complete the route.

The construction project commenced in November 2019 and the entire route involves the work taking place on private land. There will be occasional use of a helicopter for the transport of material which will reduce vehicle movements required. Ground matts and low pressure ground vehicles will also be used to access site as further efforts are made to minimise any impact on the surrounding environment.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2020.

SPEN are proud to undertake this project as we all move to using clean energy and a more sustainable environment.
