With electricity demand set to double by 2050, reinforcing and expanding Britain's grid is essential to support this growth, power new homes and industries and deliver the country’s ambitions.
Our transmission network in Central and Southern Scotland takes electricity generated from power stations, windfarms and various other sources and transports it to the local electricity distribution network and between other UK transmission networks.
Through our next Transmission Business Plan (RIIO-T3) we will invest up to £12bn to transform our network, from 2026 to 2031.
We visited some of our projects being constructed now to accelerate us towards the next RIIO-T3 price control, and spoke to the people on the ground who are key to moving our grid forward and delivering the energy transition.
